1. POST-HEARING:
  • The student will be informed of the hearing decision via the student’s IW student email within five business days.
  1. APPEALS:
  • After the decision email has been sent, the student will have five business days to appeal the decision in writing (via email) to the Vice President for Student Development who will assign it appropriately. The appeal should state the reason for the appeal as well as provide support that an appeal is justified.
  • Appeals must be based on the following criteria:
  • any irregularities in due process
  • new evidence not available at the time of the original meeting or hearing
  • a sanction that is extraordinarily disproportionate to the offense.
  • biased adjudicator
  • Within five class days the student will be notified via the student’s email of the disposition of the appeal.
  • If the appeal is granted a new hearing will be scheduled in a timely manner.
  • The appellate individual may affirm, modify, reverse or remand the original decision, or order that a new hearing be held.
  • The decision of the appellate body is final.

The University reserves the right to extend or shorten the specific time lines stated above in the interest of fairness or judicial efficacy.
