The mission of the Iowa Wesleyan Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement is to prepare future graduates for global stewardship by fostering servant-leadership through academic and co-curricular service-learning and civic engagement opportunities focused on community development, social justice, and human welfare.
Service-Learning Learning Outcomes
- Students will develop habits and customs of civic values and action including working collectively to address community needs and having a concern for the well-being of others.
- Through communication and action, students will develop or strengthen existing relationships with community partners.
- Students will identify community needs and through action and reflection, make a positive impact on society while connecting academic theory to practice.
- Students will increase their understanding of and commitment to what it means to be active and involved citizens.
