Students in the general psychology concentration have more flexibility in choosing elective courses that best fit their career goals. Core areas of general psychology cover a wide range of topics in the science of psychology.

A degree in psychology can launch students onto diverse career paths, ranging from entry level helping field jobs (like case worker, psychiatric aide, or psychosocial rehabilitation specialist) to positions in business (like retail sales or market research analyst).

General Psychology Major Concentration Requirements:

Group B – Choose one course from the following:

  • PSYC 374 Psychology of Gender

Group C – Choose one course from the following:

  • PSYC 324 Child Psychopathology
  • PSYC 361 Abnormal Psychology
  • PSYC 372 Positive Psychology

Group D – Choose one course from the following:

  • PSYC 251 Developmental Psychology I:
  • Conception through Adolescence
  • PSYC 351 Developmental Psychology II:
  • Emerging Adulthood and Aging

Complete:

  • PSYC 367 Cognitive Psychology

Two of the three electives must be 300 level or higher
