Federal Student Aid

Students can file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as Oct. 1 at FAFSA.gov.

For students enrolling in the fall of 2022, families will report income information from 2020.

Items to consider in preparation for the FAFSA

  • The student and at least one parent must register to receive an FSA ID. Although families may apply for an FSA ID at the time they complete the FAFSA, Iowa Wesleyan encourages applying earlier. The FSA ID is used to electronically sign the FAFSA.
  • Iowa Wesleyan’s preferred filing date is no later than Feb. 1 for FAFSA completion. The university recommends students complete the FAFSA as soon after Oct. 1 as possible.
  • The IW Office of Financial Aid strongly encourages using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA, to minimize errors and meet requirements for verification (if requested).
