President Henderson served Iowa Wesleyan from 1962 to 1965. On June 2, 1962, John Wayne Henderson, Dean of Student Personnel Services, Western Illinois University, was elected president. A graduate of Juniata College with an Ed.D from Michigan State, Dr. Henderson had served at Michigan State, Manchester College, and in the United States Marine Corps. Dr. Henderson assumed continuing tasks and took up new ones. He reorganized the office of student personnel services and pushed the problem of the Library. A significant emphasis of the Henderson administration was an International Program. On July 7, 1965, President Henderson resigned to become president of Washburn University, and Dean Howard Johnston was appointed acting president.
