President Richards served Iowa Wesleyan from 1982 to 1985. Jerry L. Richards was a graduate of Lycoming College and the Evangelical School of Theology with an M.Div. from Garrett Evangelical Theological School and a D.Min. from the St. Paul School of Theology. After some years of service in the pastoral ministry of the United States Methodist Church, he joined the staff of Iowa Wesleyan College in 1971 as the first full-time Director of The Responsible Social Involvement Program which he brought into full operation and academic credibility. He was named Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1975 before being elected as President in 1982. The three-year Richard’s administration focused chiefly on administrative and academic planning, student recruitment, and continued efforts on the Vision and Strength Endowment Fund Campaign.
