Francis Durbin BlakesleePresident Blakeslee served Iowa Wesleyan from 1899 to 1900. Dr. Blakeslee was president for only a year but he did complete certain projects. In his 1900 report, Dr. Blakeslee dealt with the complexities of the college debt, the progress of the 20th Century Fund, the faculty salaries, the necessary repairs, and the relationship with nearby Howe’s Academy. In July, following the annual meeting of the trustees, Blakeslee resigned to return to his native New York state as principal of the Cazenovia Academy, at which point, Dean Alba C. Piersal became acting president until a new president was elected in March 1901.
