Edwin Allison SchellPresident Schell served Iowa Wesleyan from 1908 to 1918. On July 1, 1908, the Rev. Edwin Allison Schell began a ten-year presidency. During this decade, Wesleyan went through radical changes in structure and program, which were formative for later years. Dr. Schell, a graduate of Northwestern with a Ph.D. from Illinois Wesleyan and a D.D. from Hedding College, had pastoral experience, an administrative background as General Secretary of the Epworth League, and was a district superintendent in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He had published two books and a series of articles. Schell took on several plans, including raising the Endowment fund to over $700,000 by 1917.  Dr. Schell resigned on June 27, 1918, to accept a Red Cross Chaplaincy in World War I.
