Veteran’s Day Service
November 12 @ 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm
We will once again be meeting around the flagpole at 1:00 PM on November 12th for a short service to honor and celebrate our veterans in observance of Veterans Day. The ceremony will be at the university flag pole at the middle of campus and will feature patriotic songs by Primae Voces, a special prayer and a time of silence to honor all those that have served, especially the many a part of the IW family. We are very proud of the service of our veterans and we want to pause for a moment to honor all those that serve.
Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally set as a U. S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. There are 21.8 million veterans of the U. S. armed forces as of 2014, according to the Census Bureau, approximately 10 percent of whom are women. To put that in context there are 319.2 million Americans, according to the bureau, so 6.9 percent of Americans are Veterans.
