Chemistry Program within the Biology Degree

A chemistry track is a biology concentration at Iowa Wesleyan University that involves the study of all things chemical – chemical processes, chemical compositions, and chemical manipulation – in order to better understand the way in which materials are structured, how they change and how they react in certain situations. Having gained chemical understanding at the molecular level, chemistry graduates may choose to apply this knowledge in almost unlimited ways, as it can be used to analyze all matter and therefore our entire environment.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Science Chemistry Concentration will earn a biology degree that provides a foundation in the study of living organisms — a field that offers a variety of options for graduates. Careers in biology often require research, communication, teamwork, time management, and computer skills. A Bachelor of Science Chemistry major at Iowa Wesleyan combines scientific and research abilities with critical thinking and communication skills.
